My father, Alan Bowling, paints music.
His pieces use a mixture of different media, mainly watercolor, colored pencil, xeroxing, and applying paint to paper straight out of the tube.

My father, bless him, is not particularly computer savvy. He is an artist. (and a darn good cook!) For that reason I learned enough php so that all that needs to be done when he finishes a painting is upload the JPG in to a folder on the server called "paintings". The swf on the website calls a php file that auto-generates XML based on what is in that folder. An image and text file pair can be used so that the text file has the name of the piece, the year it was made, and a description.

The opening animation was made in Blender and then traced frame-by-frame in Flash by hand to ensure a clean trace.
