2003 was the year that I made manager/director position in the Graphics Division of the Southeast Raleigh High School FIRST Team. There were 16 students, most of which I made do 3D animation in 3d studio max 5.0. Two people were made to do lots of the Photoshop texturing, and one guy took care of our storyboards, end credits, and taking lots of photos.
The time restriction was 30 seconds. The theme had to be what FIRST meant to our team which appears at the end; roughly 40 people.
As manager I made a precedent for the team using network rendering, global illumination, soft shadows, normal maps, area lights, and so on. In the year prior while I was away from FIRST I studied advanced lighting in Brazil r/s, and many of the students had never used these tools before or were used to the increase in required render time.
Note that no one ever saw the ending credits at the competitions, so most of the job titles are made up.
I composed the music.
